With the advancement of technology, even agricultural activities are being modernized. Today there are applications that... they estimate The weight of oxen, cows, pigs, and domestic animals. They don't weigh them: they calculate it from body measurements, and the result has a margin of error.

The classic method is... barimetryChest circumference and body length measured with a tape measure, applied to a formula adjusted for race and age. Some paid solutions estimate from a photo. In neither case is the number... replaces calibrated scale for sale or for dispensing medication.

Advantages of Applications

Savings on Equipment

Apps eliminate the need to buy expensive physical scales, providing a more affordable alternative, especially for small producers. All you need is a smartphone with a camera to start the process.

Agility in Handling

With just a few taps on the screen, you can estimate the weight of several animals in sequence, without having to move the herd to a scale.

More consistent estimates

By always measuring in the same way, the estimate remains consistent over time — and it is this curve, more than the isolated number, that helps in deciding on nutrition and veterinary care.

Data Logging and History

In addition to weighing, applications also usually record information such as date, estimated weight, evolution over time and observations, facilitating the control of the health and development of animals.

Ease of Use

Even those who are not familiar with technology can use the apps, as they are developed with simple interfaces, clear instructions and intuitive operation.

Ideal for Remote Locations

As many of these applications work offline, they are ideal for rural areas where there is no internet signal, ensuring practicality in any environment.

Reducing Animal Stress

Avoiding transportation to physical scales reduces stress on animals, especially in large herds or animals that are not used to closed environments.

Comparison with Breed Standards

Some apps allow you to compare results with average weights by breed and age, helping producers identify whether growth is as expected.

Smarter Decision Making

With the data collected, the producer can make more confident decisions about food supplementation, marketing, reproduction and even health treatments.

Constant Updates

Applications are always being updated with improvements, new features and more complete databases, which ensures greater efficiency with each use.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the app estimate weight without a scale?

The app makes estimates based on measurements such as height, width, length and even photos of the animal. This data is processed by algorithms to provide an approximate weight.

Are the apps reliable for professional use?

For monitoring purposes, they are helpful; for sales and any regulatory requirements, they are not. The number is an estimate, and the official scale remains mandatory.

Do I need internet to use the app?

It depends on the app. Some work completely offline, while others require a connection to download data or save records to the cloud.

What animals can I weigh with these apps?

Most apps are geared towards cattle, pigs and sheep, but some also work with pets such as dogs and cats, as long as breed data is available.

Is there any free app?

Yes, there are several free options available on the Play Store and the App Store. Paid versions usually offer more features and formulas tailored to each breed.

Do I need to calibrate or configure the app before use?

Typically, the app only requires basic information such as breed, age, and measurements of the animal. Some AI models adjust with use, but the result remains an estimate.

Does the app completely replace the scale?

No. It's a practical alternative for monitoring weight, but it doesn't replace a physical scale when weight needs to be accurate—for example, due to sales, legal requirements, and medication dosages.

Can I follow the development of animals over time?

Yes, apps usually have a history function, which allows you to compare previous weights, making it easier to monitor the animal's progress.

Is it possible to use the app with different types of livestock?

Yes, some applications allow you to register different herds, such as cattle and pigs, and switch between them within the same user account.

What are the best apps for weighing animals?

Among the most recommended are Boi Saúde, iVet, Farm Bovine and Cattle Weight Calculator. The ideal choice depends on your needs and the type of animal.

3
post-93757","revidia_lp","type-revidia_lp","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-dicas

Como funcionam os aplicativos que estimam o peso dos animais -
